The year, the African Union (AU) celebrated its 60 th anniversary. It has been a busy month around this event!  A high-level visit to Canada by the African Union Commission took place on May 16 for consultations with Global Affairs.

Among other things, support to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) was a priority. On May 18, the Canada-Africa Parliamentary Association celebrated its own 20th anniversary and at the same occasion, the Senate hosted a reception to commemorate Africa day on parliament hill.

The Canada for Africa Group and representatives of the African diaspora marked the 60 th AU anniversary by a reception on parliament hill on May 29 th .
